Jim Schneider This is an enticing and sublime collection of intimate minimalist pieces for solo piano. I listen to a lot of piano music, and the sound and mood of this release struck me immediately as being in a category all its own. Comparisons may have been made to George Winston, but to me this leans as much to ECM as to Windham Hill, with more than a nod or two to Harold Budd. There are many moments to treasure in these quiet compositions..

Tape Piano explores the ambient and relaxing side of the piano using four different and distinct pianos. Two are recorded through analog cassette tape for an imperfect yet intimate sound. One is a felt piano that was recorded to be uber soft and delicate. The final piano is a classic Steinway from the 1900s. Finally, unique reverbs and delays are used.
